Community Involvement
In addition to being a donor for both the University of Akron and the Akron Children’s Hospital, John Adams serves on the Boards of the Summa Hospitals Foundation and the Saint Mary’s Men’s Club.
He also is Vice Chairman of the University of Akron Advancement Council and was the 2006 Chairman.
John previously served on the Board of the University of Akron College of Business Alumni Association and as President of the National University of Akron Alumni Board.
Early in 2005 John Adams appeared in the pages of Children’s Progress, the magazine of the Akron Children’s Hospital, regarding a donation that resulted in the establishment of the Sarah Tellalian-Adams, M.D., Classroom, which was named for his wife.
On October 30, 2009, John and his wife, Dr. Sarah Adams, were recognized during a ceremony on the University of Akron’s campus, for funding the construction of the John R. and Sarah A. Adams Honors College Amphitheatre. The Adams Amphitheatre will serve as a gathering place for UA students to meet with faculty and with each other. It will serve to showcase concerts, performances, lectures and other scheduled events.
